VARIOUS TERMS RELATED TO CRICKET
Many terms are used in cricket and each player should have an idea about the terms that are involve in cricket. The term are distinguished and are different fort both bowlers and batsman. All these terms are proposed by the ICC (international cricket council) and it updates if any new terms are introduced into the game. It has every right in changing rules and terms that are related to cricket.
Terms related to batsman:
Batting order: it is the place where player gets into ground to bat and it is of top order (1-3), middle order (4-7), and lower order (8-11).
Front foot or back foot: These terms are used when batsman plays a shot by making a forward or back move depending on the release of ball from bowler’s hand.
Straight drive: it is shot where the batsman drives the ball straight and makes it to reach boundary.
Not out: player is declared as “not out” when he stays in ground until innings is completed.
Duck: It is used when the batsman dismissed without making runs and sometimes the term golden duck is used when batsman gets out on the first ball.
Bowler terms:
Fast bowlers: the fast bowlers generally bowl at the speed that crosses 90kmphr. They often make variations like Yorker, leg cutter, off cutter, reverse swing, in swing, out swing.
Seam bowlers: These types of bowler look similar to fast bowlers but they make most use of the pitch to bowl line and length or hit the seam to get rid of batsmen
Maiden over: It is great thing that bowlers try to achieve that is to trouble batsman without giving runs in an over.
Ball tampering: it is an art of changing the ball and its condition to get the unorthodox swing from the ball which confuses batsman.
